Discover our pistachio flavour
Description:
Fruit of the pistachio tree, a shrub native to the Middle East, the pistachio is easily identifiable with its green flesh, covered by a thin purple skin. Commonly consumed as pre-dinner nibbles, pistachios are also well suited to make dairy desserts and ice creams.
Origin and uses of pistachio
Pistachio trees are native to the Middle East. They like to grow in dry lands, with warm or temperate climates.
The pistachio fruits can be eaten fresh or roasted, and they are used in numerous desserts such as baklava, halvah and ice cream. Pistachios are also used as colouring agents in confectionery. Indeed, pistachio desserts are often characterised by a vibrant green colour.
